A month ago I made a fairly nerve-wracking decision to drop the dime on a series of lightjet prints to display in Pemberton’s excellent Blackbird Bakery – after framing, I had committed about $1200 to photos I hadn’t sold yet. Worse, no sooner had I gone ahead with the print series, I had to take off to a mining exploration camp in the remote upper reaches of the Lillooet River, a camp with no communication save our satellite phone. Luckilly, I had expert help on the logistical side of things (thanks babe) and when I returned to Pemberton on Friday, 6 of my photos were hanging from the bakery walls. This is the first time my photos have been exhibited gallery-style, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the quality of the printing, framing, and presentation.

I’m hoping that most will believe me when I say the baked goods at the Blackbird are worth the drive from Vancouver alone, but here’s a visual rundown of some of the fare:

As for the photos on display, the series is a selection of local and Yukon landscapes (with one irresistibly cute fawn). They range in price from $275 to $350, depending on the size.

All photos are available framed or unframed (no markup on the framing). If you can’t make the trip to Pemberton to scope my first exhibition for yourself, please help spread the word! I’ll ship photos but to be honest, it’ll probably cost you less to drive here, enjoy the best bakery in BC, and visit me. Hell, I’ll even buy you a beer. Careful though – spend too much time in Pemberton, and you might never leave. Not that thats a bad thing…

A few weeks ago, a good friend of mine commissioned me to make some art for his new house. The result was a 24×41 stretched canvas print of one of my more popular images:

I was unsure of how it would turn out, printing that big from a 10mp Pentax camera… but I’m thoroughly stoked on how awesome it looks. You haven’t really seen a photo til you’ve seen it this big, in print… trust me. I’m almost sad that I’m selling it; guess I’ll have to make another copy for myself. Speaking of which, I’d be more than happy to make one for you as well, drop me a line @ andrewstrainphoto@gmail.com if you’re interested.

Father’s Day Print Sale

Father’s Day is barely 2 weeks away, and I know all of you are thinking, “what shall I get Dad this year?” Well, for a limited time I will be offering several of my photographs as large 18×12 prints, available for only $15 a piece!

Prints can be ordered up until Sunday, June 8. That allows time for printing and pickup / shipping. I prefer local pickup, but I can ship within Canada if requested. Any shipping will be via Canada Post Xpresspost and will cost an additional $15.

Payment can be in the form of cash, or cheque made out to “Andrew Strain.” I will not ship prior to receiving payment, so if you plan on getting a print shipped to you, please order expediently.

All prints will be signed and numbered, and will come a protective envelope.
